Guide to Tickets and Wristbands

Tickets and wristbands are one of the most important supplies for carnivals.  Use wristbands to show guests have paid to enter and use tickets to redeem prizes.

Tickets:

Tickets come in a wide variety of styles and forms and each style of ticket has its own purpose.

50/50 tickets are a great, low cost way of raising money.  Here's how it works.  Guests purchase a ticket and the winning ticket splits the total revenue of the tickets with the organization.  See table below showing how it works.

So with a very small investment, an organization can raise a lot of money.  They key to success is marketing 50/50 ticket sales with signage and possibly even allowing for the sale of tickets prior to the start of the event.
Instructions for set up:

  1. Set a start time and end time for ticket sales
  2. Promote sales through word of mouth, posters, etc.
  3. For each ticket sold, tear off the matching stub and add to a raffle wheel
  4. When it comes time to draw for a prize, spin the raffle and draw the winning ticket
  5. Winner gets 50% of all the ticket sales

Double tickets are used for raffle drawings.  This is another great fundraiser idea.  Either purchase the raffle prize or have one donated.  The more prizes available to give away the better the raffle results will be so look for lots of options.  Just make sure that all the costs of the prizes are covered in either ticket or wristband sales.

Instructions for set up:

  1. For multiple prizes, spread out drawings to last through out the carnival (this will encourage carnival guests to stay longer to see if they have won).
  2. Promote sales through word of mouth, posters, etc.
  3. For each ticket sold, tear off the matching stub and add to a raffle wheel
  4. When it comes time to draw for a prize, spin the raffle and draw the winning ticket

Stock tickets are perfect for redemption prizes.  $.25 stock tickets or blank stock tickets are available to use instead of cash for redeeming carnival prizes.

Blank stock tickets are often more popular because any value can be associated with them.  Assign a value to the ticket and the set the price for each redemption prize based on the value assigned to the ticket.

Admit One tickets are used to show payment for admittance to an event.  These work best for events where proof of payment only needs to be shown one time such as at a performance, dinner, movie or other event.

Wristbands:

Wristbands are ideal for carnivals and events where with multiple entrances and exits and where guests may have to show proof of admittance multiple times.
